The Foundation has proposed the dissolution of the Developer Advisory Board following Season 9. As outlined in the Operating Manual, a persistent Council or Board continues into the next Season unless a dissolution proposal is approved.
After multiple seasons of operation, the Foundation has assessed that the Board creates coordination overhead without proportional benefit to the broader ecosystem. While developer input remains important, the Foundation no longer believes a formal Board structure is necessary to help delegates evaluate technical proposals or protocol upgrades.
You can read the proposal in its entirety here.
If approved, the Developer Advisory Board will be dissolved effective immediately. The Foundation will continue to facilitate decentralized protocol upgrades through Optimism governance and engage developers through alternative mechanisms, such as working groups, request-for-comment processes, and informal consultation.
If the proposal is not approved, a prospective Lead would need to propose a budget and recruit candidates in the next voting cycle. The Foundation will not provide operational support or facilitate coordination with core teams.
