The Foundation has proposed the dissolution of the Grants Council following Season 9. As outlined in the Operating Manual, a persistent Council continues into the next Season unless a dissolution proposal is approved.
After multiple seasons of operation, the Foundation has assessed that the Grants Council creates significant governance and coordination overhead without proportional benefits to grantees or the broader ecosystem. The proposed dissolution is part of a broader effort to reduce structural overhead, streamline decision-making, and improve the speed and quality of grants deployment.
You can read the proposal in its entirety here.
If approved, the Grants Council will be dissolved effective immediately. The Foundation will continue to make select strategic grants in pursuit of the OP Enterprise strategy and will monitor milestones on existing grants.
If the proposal is not approved, a prospective Grants Council Lead would need to propose a budget and recruit candidates in the next voting cycle. The Foundation will not provide operational support or facilitate coordination with core teams.
