Since launch, Clipper has aligned itself with Optimism users’ best interests by delivering the best trading prices on major assets and the best LP returns. It is a shining star of sustainable DeFi on Optimism.
Clipper’s pricing beats 0x API >90% of the time on at least one leg (see price study). It uses 15% less gas than Uniswap and has a customized Optimism-native deployment that further reduces gas use by optimizing call data sent to Ethereum. For LPs, Clipper has delivered above market returns compared to both HODLing and a perfectly rebalancing pool of assets. Unlike most DEXs, it has no impermanent loss and only executes trades that are profitable for LPs.
Clipper has also run a series of community campaigns called Adventures, which drove thousands of new active users to Optimism.
Clipper has saved traders tons of money on slippage, gas, and fees with its fair prices, and generated significant above market yields for LPs during the time it’s been on Optimism (33.3% APY in just the past month).
Clipper initially launched on Ethereum in 2021 and later went live on Optimism in early 2022. During the time between first launch and coming to Optimism, Clipper built a loyal userbase which it brought to Optimism through its community Adventures. Over 60k users participated in Clipper’s past two Adventures, which included activities that required trading and LPing on Optimism.
As of Oct 1, there are over 125k traders and over 82k LPs on Clipper’s Optimism deployment. Clipper has also brought over $104.6M in total *human* volume and >490k *human* transactions to Optimism.
