Reasons for wanting to be a delegate:
Engagement and Expertise: Gelato has shown dedication to understanding and working within the Optimism network, as evidenced by the contribution to the ecosystem. Our expertise in decentralised backend services and smart contract automation is an asset to Optimism's governance. Gelato has already executed over 150,000 transactions on Optimism so far.
Commitment to Optimism's Vision:
As a delegate, Gelato will be committed to understanding and promoting Optimism's long-term vision and collective constitution. This includes actively engaging in the governance of the Optimism Collective for the benefit of the Collective’s citizenry.
Promotion of Cultural Values:
As a delegate, Gelato will promote the Collective’s cultural values, setting a positive example for the general public and encouraging widespread adoption of Web3 technology.
Our view on the Optimistic Vision:
Gelato embraces the principles of the Optimistic Vision, recognizing the vast potential of a cyberspace governed by its citizens and appreciating the unique opportunity it presents to reshape how we organize in the digital age. We agree with the vision's emphasis on the role of public goods in driving growth in cyberspace and the need for a new economic model that properly rewards their creators. As a project deeply ingrained in the Web3 space, Gelato is excited to be part of the Optimism Collective's mission to create a more productive and empathetic economy, and to dispel the myth that public goods cannot be profitable.
Our view on the first three articles of the Working Constitution:
Gelato aligns with the principles of the Optimism Collective's Working Constitution. We appreciate the adaptability and commitment to experimentation it embodies, the balanced governance structure it advocates through the coexistence of OP Citizens and OP Holders, and the stewardship role of the Optimism Foundation in the early stages of the Collective's development. Gelato particularly commends the plan for the Foundation to progressively decentralize its role, consistent with the ethos of the broader Web3 space.
