Contribution

SEED Latam ventured into governance on the Optimism forum, recognizing the challenges of engaging $OP holders and users. Over 16 months, we onboarded +150 Latin Americans into Optimistic Collective discussions, addressing language barriers and information asymmetry. We developed an internal meta-governance through an experimental process. Our contribution is our work in the forum and the documentation of this pilot project. The backbone consists of 15 community governance calls with 514 attendees who voted on 233 financial, organizational, and operational decisions. Beyond this, we promoted governance topics at online and IRL events, notably #GovernanceDay organized by SEED Latam (Buenos Aires, 2023), attracting 200 attendees with 3 talks on Public Goods and Optimism Governance.

Impact

We believe that community delegation positively influenced Optimism's forum, both in terms of quantity and quality. In Latin America, we were pioneers in promoting governance topics in our region, even inspiring the creation of the first Brazilian Optimism community (https://x.com/OptimismPT/status/1703054570656760315). As SEED Latam, we've made significant strides in the Optimism ecosystem, creating a delegation, forming a new community, changing our name, and expanding our team. The most notable impact has been our collective governance experience, conducted in real-time, without becoming a DAO. We are committed to actively developing mechanisms to combat apathy and facilitate the democratization of information and decision-making within the Optimistic Collective.
