Delegate Statement

I believe that Optimism is an innovative example of public infrastructure, supporting both commercial and philanthropic enterprises. More broadly, I am enthusiastic about how digital public infrastructure can benefit the global commonwealth, and how it can facilitate funding for public goods. As far as Optimism is concerned, to my understanding there is a sound revenue model owing to how sequencer fees are allocated, and that this constitutes a novel mechanism for funding digital public infrastructure.

Treasury management
Treasury management
On treasury management, I believe in prudent scoping of expenses and engagements (e.g. clearly defining deliverables before contracts are formed), and in fairly compensating the work that is done. In terms of treasury diversification, I am relatively conservative, and would rather minimize around ETH, the native token of the organization, and stablecoins (mainly DAI and USDC, but some others as well).
Grant funding
Grant funding
On grant funding, I believe that the work done by grantees, and the impact it creates, should be verifiable in nature, so as to enable an ongoing and progress-orienting funding relationship between grantor and grantee. That said, having both received and approved grants over the years, I recognize that much of the work that goes into these nonprofit and public good projects is not adequately compensated. It seems to me that the cold start problem, of grantors being able to trust that grantees can effectively execute their philanthropic missions, can be overcome by building a track record of publicly verified impact milestones.
